A Great Idea

I took my first screenshot.

Don’t go telling I told you, but I have triumphed in the arduous and dizzying technological race.

After 6 months 6 of strenuous research, studies and exhausting practices, alone, with no help other than 453 tutorial videos, I was able to take a screenshot.  I know, it seems incredible.  But don’t think I’m satisfied, now I’m trying to find where the hell the screenshot was saved.  Then find out what a screenshot is for.  And after? …the world!

Well, hence, encouraged by this great achievement, I dedicated myself to venturing into the world of digital applications (which we veterans call “apps”), and thus arose the idea that I am now telling you about:

It is an idea for the much-vaunted transition towards humane capitalism (or to “file the edges off from neoliberalism” -according to the 4T-): A new digital application that would be called “OnlyHaters”.  In it you, lady, gentleman, etc., could insult the villain of your choice at will in exchange for a reasonable price.  Of course, there would be a premium account where the recipient agrees to read your message or watch your video (if you have more resources).  Can you imagine?  Almost any figure in politics and capital would become a millionaire.

The future secretary of education, in Mexico, would no longer have to sell candidates to the cartel closest to his heart.  The Supreme would retire with his livelihood assured and it would be enough for him to create his own morning podcast (which is the only thing he did in almost 6 years).  Trump would not have to resort to tax fraud to finance his campaign and his companies.  Biden-Harris would not have to make seasonal offers to large corporations for the war of conquest in Palestine.  Le Pen and Macron would not have to hide their ideological affinity.  The PSOE and the PP could finally come out of the closet and embrace each other in public.  Milei wouldn’t have to get hysterical every time he says something or look like he’s acutely constipated.  Lula, Petro and Boric could pay their subscription to the TV channels of the Murdoch empire (Fox) without having to become their spokespersons (and, please, someone tell them that those they want to please will be the same ones who will stone them in the media tomorrow).  Netanyahu would not have to commit war crimes to stay in government.  Zelensky would find an honorable channel for his histrionic capacity.  Putin could take up bear riding.

And of course, I, the Captain, would not have to attend my electric bicycle workshop (which is called, of course, “Mi Abuelita en Bicicleta” [My granny on a bike]) to be able to acquire the complete works of Arturo and Carlota Pérez-Reverte, Javier Marías and Arthur Conan Doyle (before you start your trials, sentences and condemnations of political correctness, “gender sensitivity” and whatever is fashionable, let me warn you that I shit on your courts, moral and otherwise).

I don’t know, think about it.  In this way, the power of human labor would no longer be exploited, only the feelings of rejection, hatred, intolerance, racism, homophobia, misogyny, fanaticism, etc. The most ruinous thing for the human species would be a source of wealth.

Oh, forget it: that’s what social media already exists for.

In short, as Don Francisco de Quevedo responds to another Captain, a veteran of the Tercios of Flanders: “There is nothing left but to fight, despite everything. Against ignorance, stupidity, evil, superstition and envy.”  Later the author will add: “apathy, lack of culture, lack of solidarity, corruption.”

P.S.- If someone out there decides to capitalize on this great idea, succeed in the harsh world of the digital age, have an exclusive place in Silicon Valley, rub shoulders with the Arnaults, Bezos, Musk, Zuckerberg, Gates, and be summoned by the president for you to give your opinion on matters that should be of State, don’t forget to share a little money.  We need to equip several operating rooms.  There have the fraternal “quacks” willing, we have the surgery candidates, we have the places to build them, we have the young men and women willing to learn.  The only thing missing is the equipment.  And the training for its use and care, of course.
