El día de hoy 24 de mayo, se cumplen 3 semanas de que en el caracol de la Realidad, el compañero zapatista José Luis Solís López, alias Galeano, fuera asesinado a manos de paramilitares, como parte de una de las más graves agresionesen años recientes en contra de la autonomía zapatista. Hoy en los caracoles zapatistas y en muchas partes de México yel mundo, se van a realizar actos en memoria de Galeano.
La Red de Solidaridad Zapatista del Reino Unido también se suma a la Semana Internacional de Acción y Día de Homenaje; exigimos el cese a las agresiones en contra de las Comunidades Autónomas Zapatistas, y alzamos nuestra voz en reclamo por justicia para el compañero Galeano, quien es también nuestro compañero.
Hemos recibido con dolor y rabia las noticias de la violenta agresión en contra del Caracol de La Realidad, perpetrado por los paramilitares de la CIOAC-Histórica, el PVEM y el PAN, y del salvaje asesinato del compañero Votán Galeano, maestro de la Escuelita Zapatista. En esta violenta agresión también resultaron heridos 15 bases de apoyo zapatista, y fueron destruidas la escuela y clínica autónoma comunitaria Zapatista, dos símbolos bien conocidos de la autonomía Zapatista.
Sabemos bien que el ataque no es un acto aislado sino que es una clara ofensiva del Estado. Esta agresión forma parte de una estrategia de guerra de baja intensidad, planificada desde el Gobierno Federal Mexicano y desde el Gobierno del Estado de Chiapas, una estrategia aplicada en todo el territorio zapatista, que son disfrazados como conflictos intracomunitarios, es una estrategia que pretende acabar con la lucha digna zapatista, por otro mundo con dignidad y justicia, y quienes están construyéndolo día a día en sus tierras.
En el sur de Inglaterra grupos e individuos miembros de «La Red», nos reunimos hoy 24 de mayo, con el fin de llevar a cabo actividades de información y difusión, y para realizar un acto de homenaje a la vida y lucha de José Luis Solís López, el Votán Galeano.
En el acto rendimos homenaje al compa Galeano, nos solidarizamos con su familia, pedimos justicia por el ataque a nuestr@s compañeras y compañeros zapatistas de la Realidad, y por el crimen cometido en contra de nuestro hermano; exigimos justicia y el castigo a los responsables; un alto a las agresiones contra las comunidades zapatistas y a la organización de grupos paramilitares del mal gobierno.
A l@s compas bases de apoyo zapatistas de la Realidad y l@s familiares y amig@s de Galeano les ofrecemos nuestros más sentidos y sinceros pésames, y también les enviamos saludos y abrazos de solidaridad desde el otro lado del Océano Atlántico. Queremos decirles que no están solos, que alrededor del mundo hacemos de su lucha la nuestra. La indignación y la organización continúan, en solidaridad con la lucha digna de l@s zapatistas, en su incansable esfuerzo por construir un mundo donde quepan muchos mundos.
Votán Galeano, gracias por todo. Te recordamos. Vivirás en los corazones de tod@s aquellos que luchan por dignidad y justicia. Hoy, y para siempre, el mundo y tu Realidad te abrazamos. ¡Galeano Vive, La Lucha Sigue!

“Oh, and also tell them that the bases of support will be holding a homage to compa Galeano in all of the caracoles on May 24. And that it would be good for them to do something that day in the places where they live also, according to their own schedules and styles.” – Communique ‘Fragments of Reality 1′
Three weeks ago today, May 24th, the Zapatista support base compañero José Luis Solís López, Galeano, was murdered by paramilitaries in the caracol of la Realidad, in one of the most serious attacks on Zapatista autonomy for many years.
Today, acts in memory of Galeano are being performed in the Zapatista caracoles and in many parts of Mexico and the
world.
The UK Zapatista Solidarity Network joins the International Week of Action and Day of Homage. We demand an end to attacks against the Autonomous Zapatista Communities, and we raise our voices to demand justice for compañero Galeano, who is also our compañero.
We have learned with pain and rage of the violent attack against the caracol of La Realidad perpetrated by paramilitaries from the CIOAC-Historic, the PVEM and the PAN, and the savage murder of compañero Votán Galeano, teacher at the Zapatista Escuelita. This violent attack also resulted in 15 Zapatista support bases being wounded and the destruction of the Zapatista school and community health clinic, two well- known symbols of Zapatista autonomy.
We know that the attack is not an isolated act, but clearly part of an offensive by the state. It is part of a strategy of low intensity warfare, planned from the Mexican Federal Government and from the Government of the State of Chiapas, a strategy applied in all Zapatista territory disguised as intra-community conflicts, which aims to put an end to the dignified struggle of the Zapatistas for another world, one which they are building day by day on their lands.
In southern England some groups and individuals from the Network met today, May 24th, to carry out activities and disseminate information, and to perform an act of homage to the life and struggle of José Luis López Solís, Votán Galeano.
In the act we paid homage to our fallen compa, we sent our sympathies to his family and called for justice for the attack on our Zapatista compañeras and compañeros from la Realidad and the crime committed against our brother. We demanded justice and punishment for those responsible, an end to the attacks on Zapatista communities and to the organization of paramilitary groups by the bad government.
To the Zapatista support bases of La Realidad and the family and friends of Galeano we offer our most heartfelt and sincere condolences, and we send greetings of solidarity and embraces from the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. We want tell you that you not alone, that throughout the world we make your struggle our own. Our outrage and our organising will continue, in solidarity with the dignified struggle of the Zapatistas and their tireless efforts to build a world where many worlds fit.
Votán Galeano, thank you for it all. We will remember you. You will live on in the hearts of everyone who is fighting for dignity and justice. Today and always, we, the world, and your Reality embrace you. Galeano Lives! The Struggle Continues!
