Compañeros and Compañeras:
The Zapatista Army of National Liberation makes note of the following:
First - As the EZLN’s direct participation in the “Other Campaign” has been approaching - through its Sixth Committee and along with thousands of Mexicans - the climate of harassment, threats and persecution against those who are committed to this initiative has been growing.
Second - In Chiapas, the compañeros Gustavo Jiménez and Gabriel Ramírez have received direct attacks and threats, as well have compas from the Fray Bartolomé de Las Casas Human Rights Center and from the “Maderas del Pueblo” organization. In other parts of our country there have been similar threats and attacks, such as the detention in Oaxaca of Joel Aquino, the continuous attacks against the brothers who are opposing the construction of “La Parota” dam in the state of Guerrero and the closures, or attempts at closure, of indigenous community radio stations.
Third - In the chiapaneco regions of the different zapatista Good Government Juntas, the corporate organizations of the Revolutionary Institutional Party (PRI) and of its shameless brother, the Revolutionary Democratic Party (PRD,) have been increasingly belligerent.
Fourth - In the case of the PRI, the “OPDICCH” has been moving forward in making itself into a paramilitary group with the consent of the federal and Chiapas state governments, and it is organizing provocations in various parts of the Selva Lacandona. In the Northern region, PRI organizations are continuing their threats against zapatista support bases and members of other sister organizations.
Fifth - The “CIOAC-Historic”, affiliated with the PRD, is trying to present unfortunate events which have been provoked, encouraged and perpetrated by its leadership as having been carried out by zapatista support bases. One of the leaders of “CIOAC-Historic” supports Lopez Obrador’s campaign in the state. They are using the deaths of their compañeros (assassinated by members of the CIOAC itself) for the purpose of gaining positions in the next election in Chiapas while hundreds of displaced, women, men, children and old ones, who are members of their organization, are wandering around without food or shelter.
Sixth - All of this is being concealed by the bad and tragicomic comedy of the elections of above for a two-fold purpose: getting rid of everything that is not within the framework of above and presenting the appearance of “democratic normalcy” during the elections to the international public.
Seventh - The EZLN is calling on all supporters of the Sexta and the “Other Campaign” to lift their voices in protest, to be in solidarity with all those who have been attacked, persecuted and threatened and to not stop in their work of building a national anti-capitalist movement of the left.

A las compañeras y compañeros del EZLN:
Hacemos público nuestro mas enérgico repudio a los ataques directos y amenazas que han recibido los compañeros Gustavo Jiménez y Gabriel Ramírez, además de l@s compas del centro de derechos humanos Fray Bartolomé de las Casas y de la Organización de "Maderas del Pueblo".
Asimismo repudiamos las amenazas y ataques de carácter semejante, que en otros puntos de Méjico, se dan, como la detención en Oaxaca de Joel Aquino, las continuas agresiones en contra de l@s herman@s que se oponen en el Estado de Guerrero a la construcción de la presa de "La Parota", y los cierres, o intentos de cierre de radios comunitarias indígenas.
Declaramos nuestra repulsa respecto de la creciente beligerancia en las zonas Chiapanecas de las Distintas Juntas de Buen Gobierno de Las Organizaciones Corporativas del Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) y de su hermano vergonzante, el Partido de la Revolución Democrática (PRD.
Rechazamos la conformación como grupo paramilitar de la llamada "OPDICCH", y denunciamos la anuencia de los gobiernos Federal y Estatal de Chiapas al respecto, como así también con referencia a las provocaciones en diversos puntos de la selva Lacandona, y a los sucesos en la zona norte, donde organizaciones priístas mantienen sus amenazas en contra de bases de apoyo zapatistas y de miembros de otras organizaciones hermanas.
En la República Argentina ya conocemos bien como funcionan los aparatos represivos del Estado, como asi también como se construyeron en el pasado los grupos paramilitares, que con la anuencia de los altos mandos del ejército, de grupos empresarios, representantes eclesiásticos, políticos y civiles, asesinaron y desaparecieron a 30.000 compañeros, sumiendo a nuestra República en un profundo dolor que aún hoy nos revuelve las entrañas.
No es una casualidad que las alimañas comiencen a agitarse cuando ven que muchas rebeldías de izquierdas empiezan a juntarse en su contra.
Vaya nuestra solidaridad con todos los hermanos mejicanos, especialmente los que se encuentran "abajo y a la izquierda".

Perdon,my spanish is nada how or were can i receive info in english,i have the essay by Sub-Comandante Marcos:Chiapas:The Southeast in Two Winds A Storm and a Prophecy.Any input or advice will helpful.I have family in the state of Hidalgo,when asked about Sub Comandante Marcos to find out what they thought their comments offended me greatly.i need more education on this issue.My feelings are that they need to quit being ignorant about whats happening around them,seventy years of oppresion is hard to change.time time is now for change. pues no se donde plasmar lo que en un momento describire asi que por este medio les mando los mas gratos saludos a todos los zapatistas y en especial al subcomandante marcos para informar que en mi estado se estan dando cuestiones de abuso de poder ahora que ya estan aprendiendo a los integrantes de la APPO y sumandole mas delitos pra refundirlos y por las noches hay cateos en casas disparos y rondindes de la PFP y ministeriales y la gente tiene temos y mas para esta toma de protesta de calderon por k anteriormente tomaron presos a todos los profesores y necesitamos de su ayuda por favor no dejen a OAXACA por la lucha contra el poder gracias y espero respuesta
